Mrs.
Ireland's Homework and Grading
Policy for Math |
|
General
Information:
|
 |
We
will meet in Room 101 according to your schedule. Please
come prepared with all your materials including your assignment
book. |
 |
Homework
will be assigned as needed. We will try to accomplish most
of our work in school, but sometimes we may need to finish things
at home. |
 |
Chapter
assessment will vary for each chapter. Assessment may take
the form of tests, quizzes, projects or other performance-based
tools. |
|
| Required
Materials: |
 |
Blue
- 3-ring notebook with dividers and loose-leaf paper |
 |
Marble
notebook or other notebook for note-taking |
 |
Pencils,
erasers, rulers |
 |
If
you have other math supplies such as a calculator, protractor,
etc., you should also bring them to class. We will not use
them everyday, but they will come in handy. You may want to
use a pencil pouch to carry colored pencils (if you have them) and
plenty of extra pencils. |
|
| Grading
Policy: |
 |
You
will be graded on your homework, chapter
assessments, class participation and projects. There
will be opportunities for extra credit assignments from time to
time. |
 |
If
you are absent from school you will need to make up any
assignments. You will be given extra time to complete
them. If you are absent from class for a band lesson or
other service you are responsible to get any missed
assignments. Try to find a study buddy that can give you the
assignments. (Failure to make up
missed assignments will result in a zero. Handing
assignments in late will result in points being deducted.) |
|
| Textbook: |
 |
Our
textbook, Prentice Hall Middle Grades Math - Course One,
is a little different from what you used last year. I have
been using this book for several years and like it. I would
like you to cover the book and bring it with you to class
everyday. Please don't use a sticky book cover
because they are hard to remove and leave a sticky residue on the
book. I will collect the book back from you at the end of
the year. |
|
| I
am really looking forward to a great year working together with all of
you! |
