In ELA this week, we finished Esperanza Rising and completed the plot map.  We are working on responses to the book, practicing analyzing figurative language and written responses.  We are currently working on Unit 4 vocabulary list which includes vocabulary from the last science unit on the earth's layers and types of heat transfer.

We will begin Locomotion, by Jacqueline Woodson, next week. 

On 11/20, we will have and ELA practice exam.

October 13-October 17, 2008

This week we are continuing with our Esperanza Rising unit and revisiting the presidential election with a vocabulary poster activity.  The poster is due Friday, 10/17, in lieu of word works for the week.

For this week:

Welcome to Language Arts!  We are getting in to the swing of things, getting to know each other and learning the routine.

Week of 9/8-9/12

We are finishing up our "Getting to know Each other" activities and beginning our "Electing Our President" unit.

Next week, we will begin our first Spelling unit.  Stay tuned for dates and details.................
